The Peace House Education Trust

The Peace House Education Trust was set up with the aim of breaking down the barriers that separate people in Coventry through educational activities.

We are situated close to the centre in a multi-cultural area and run a volunteer run bicycle renovation project where we sell renovated bicycles at affordable prices, in order to promote cycling and encourage members of our local community to learn new skills.

Our education projects tackle inequality through highlighting social issues and promote the involvement of ‘hard to reach groups’ in mainstream activities. We participate in the city's annual Positive Images Diversity and Peace festivals through community arts.

In our current projects with at-risk young people we offer community art workshops to encourage a joy of learning, to nurture their talents, to promote group morale and to showcase their achievements.

When working with asylum seekers we have; recorded musical CDs to promote their creative talents, published books to highlight personal stories, and worked using masked mime performance to highlight the personal and bureaucratic issues that migrants face.
